The Australian Mist is a breed of smoky cats, also known in the English translation as Australian mist. The smoky-colored cat with specks on the fur was bred by crossing several cats at once. Among them are known: Burmese, Abyssinian and other species of cats with short hair. It is known for certain that this species of feline breed was created for the first time on the Australian continent. That is why the cat got such a consonant nickname.

Australian scientists have long sought to bring a rare kind of cats at the institute of research. However, it was the first to succeed in doing this to a Sydney-based doctor, Labor Strade, around the eighties.Beginning in 1977, a female scientist began to work on crossing different feline breeds. It is known that about 30 different feline species are collected in the blood of the Australian Mist. The genes of the Burmese cat endowed the Australian Mist with the shape of a head, eyes, a rounded strong body, and also innate friendliness.

After ten years of hard work, she managed to breed a new breed of rare specimen using a selection technique. In 1986, the first kittens of the new breed were born. Around 1998, Labor Strade was able to register an unusual variety of spotted, smoky cats. It was then that the name of the breed of a rare cat, originally from Australia, Australian Mist, established in our time, appeared. Today in the world there are a small number of these beautiful and rare animals.

External features of the breed

The animal has an average body size, a muzzle of a round shape, large eyes and long ears.The coat of a smoky cat is thick with short hair, without undercoat. Feeding cats

Young kittens of this breed must be fed two to three times a day. After the cat has matured, about half a year later, the owners should transfer their pet to two meals.
