How to get rid of splinters

To remove the splinter from the foot or bones of the fingers, it is necessary, first of all, to deal with the nature of the tumor. It so happens that a small part of the bitch stuck into the skin, and the tip remained stuck or broken off at all. Consider all the ways to fix the problem.

Removing splinters (free edge is not visible)

The edge has broken off relatively recently (the splinter has not pierced deep)

  1. If the outer tip broke off a few minutes ago, as a result of which I did not manage to pierce deep under the skin, proceed as follows.Take a sewing needle, press the second hand with your finger on the area to the right or left of the splinters. You will see how the free end starts to pop out, at this time try to hold it in a similar position and pull it out with tweezers.
  2. Sterilize the needle, tweezers, and hands before the procedure to avoid infection. For such purposes, suitable medical (ethyl) alcohol, a peroxide solution (concentration of 3-6%), "chlorhexidine", an antiseptic for hands or vodka.

The edge broke off for a long time (a thorn pierced deep)

  1. If you do not have time to lift the splinter, and she went deep into the layers of the skin, change the method. First of all, it is necessary to soften the epidermis, so that the tumor will easily come out. To do this, suitable products and tools such as salt, soda, black bread pulp, banana peel, tar, soap, aloe vera or kerosene.
  2. To steam the skin, prepare a hot bath with the addition of ground salt. Wait until the skin is curtailed (about 25-30 minutes). Periodically pour hot water to quickly achieve results.
  3. After that, disinfect the wound, press the fingers of the second hand deep into the splinters, observing a sharp angle. As soon as the tip starts to appear, linger at the end point, pick it up with a needle and pull it out with nail clippers.
  4. Tar will also help to soften the skin in combination with kerosene. Apply the composition to the skin, wait a few hours, then squeeze your finger with your second hand and wait until the splinter comes out. Pick it up with tweezers, carefully remove.
  5. With regard to the use of soda, dilute a small amount of the composition with water so as to obtain a pasty mixture. Make a compress, putting weight on a finger and fixing it with a bandage.
  6. Spend with a bandage about 5-7 hours, then gently push deep into your finger with your opposite hand and pick up a splinter with tweezers. As in the previous case, sterilize the instruments before starting the procedure.

Removing a splinter (the free edge is clearly visible)

 Removing splinters

  1. The ideal option is to remove the splinter, the outer end of which is well visible through the skin. This is especially true of the finger or foot pads.
  2. To properly carry out the procedure, wash your hands with soap, treat the skin and instruments with an antiseptic solution (vodka, hydrogen peroxide or “Chlorhexidine”, medical alcohol, etc.).
  3. After that, prepare the tools at hand, sterilize them in the same way. Put a paper napkin next to it, put a bandage, cotton wool, a needle and tweezers, and a peroxide on it. At this stage, it is recommended not to use greens or iodine, since they will stain the skin surface, as a result of which the wound will be hardly noticeable.
  4. Carry out the procedure in daylight or high intensity lamps in order not to accidentally break off the end of the splinter. It is important to determine at what angle a part of the bitch pierced into the skin.
  5. Take the needle, press on the finger with the next hand, wait until the drift begins to crawl out. Pry it off with a needle, then pinch the edge with tweezers and carefully remove the object. Observe the angle at which the splinter pierced into the skin, so as not to break off the edge.
  6. After removing the splinters, disinfect the wound, moisten the cotton with vodka, peroxide, or alcohol, attach it to your finger, and secure with adhesive tape. Remove it after 2-3 hours after the procedure.

What to do if it is impossible to remove the splinter immediately

  1. There are frequent cases when there is no possibility of removing the splinter immediately after it hits the skin. The situation is especially relevant if you have driven the subject in a campaign or in the country, where there are no available tools and antiseptic preparations. To protect yourself, treat the wound with any solution containing alcohol.
  2. Try not to drive the splinter deep into the skin cavity, get to the halt and try to extract a part of the bitch using one of the methods listed above. If possible, preheat the epidermis beforehand so that the procedure is more effective. Do not try to pull the splinter out with your teeth or with dirty hands.

What to do if pain occurs after removing the splinters

  1. Successfully removed the splinter, put a sterile compress / adhesive plaster, and the wound continues to hurt? At the site of the procedure appeared swelling and inflammation?
  2. It is possible that in the process of removing the splinters in the wound cavity got an infection, which is the cause of pain. The inflammatory process can be prevented by preparing a solution of soda and salt.
  3. Mix bulk products in equal amounts (35 gr. Each), add to them 275 ml. warm (almost hot) water, stir until the granules completely dissolve. After that, lower the finger or foot in the composition, wait a quarter of an hour.
  4. After the time, treat the skin with hydrogen peroxide, repeat simple manipulations every 2 hours. In case of a negative result, consult a doctor so that he will select the appropriate treatment.

What not to do

  1. Do not attempt to remove the splinter by making a preliminary incision with a blade. You will increase the area of the wound, as a result of which the neoplasm will penetrate even deeper under the skin, and it will be practically impossible to get it from there.
  2. Do not pick the wound with a sewing needle, proceed carefully. Do not try to break off the tip of the splinter, pull it out at the original angle.
  3. Do not soften the skin with creams and moisturizing lotions, such products block the flow of air into the wound cavity, causing an inflammatory process.
  4. If the tip of the splinters is visible at 1-1.5 mm., Attach a adhesive plaster to it, then sharply pull up your hand. The method is not particularly effective, but it's worth a try.

Removing the splinters can be compared with a simple surgical operation that requires patience, concentration and attention to detail. No matter how unpleasant the sensations, it is imperative to remove a foreign object. Otherwise, you risk getting tissue inflammation. Do not forget to sterilize the skin and instruments, after the procedure, apply soda compress.
