How to cook frozen shrimp

Seafood, in particular, shrimps are very popular because they are considered a low-calorie dish. They contain protein and calcium, as a rule, shrimps are delivered to the stores in frozen form. In most cases, they are pre-boiled in production, as a result of which the product has a delicate pink shade. Shrimps are the main dish, in the process of cooking they are supplemented with soy sauce, lemon juice, seasonings and spices. It is necessary to observe the proportions in order not to interrupt the taste qualities by chance.

Since the shrimp comes pre-boiled, we can assume that they are ready to eat. For this reason, if you have purchased seafood of small or medium size, you need to torment them for no more than 3 minutes. In the case of royal (tiger) shrimp, soaking time increases to 5 minutes. The meat of this delicacy is very gentle, if you keep it on fire for longer than it should be, it will become rubber. Perfectly cooked shrimp melt in your mouth.

Cooking shrimp with lemon

  1. Rinse frozen seafood through a colander with cold or warm water to thaw out all the ice and remove any possible dirt.
  2. Select the appropriate saucepan so that the water exceeds the seafood by more than 2 times. Make sure that the shrimp float freely in the tank throughout the cooking process.
  3. Pour water into a container, salt it, add spices for seafood, squeeze the juice from half a lemon (2 liters of water), wait until it boils over high heat.
  4. Turn on the burner to medium power, lower the shrimp into the acidified water. Once again, wait until boiling, record the interval.Boil the composition on medium heat for 3-5 minutes depending on the size.

Important!
Since shrimp meat is practically pure protein, it quickly turns off, so watch the cooking process carefully and do not overdo it.

Cooking shrimp with spices

  1. Rinse the shrimp through a colander with cool water. Select the appropriate dishes in which they will cook. Start cooking broth. Its amount should be 3 times the mass of shrimp.
  2. Pour water into a saucepan, bring it to a boil over high heat, then turn it down a little. Immediately after that, send peas (5 pieces to 2 liters), a pod clove (3 pieces), bay leaf (5 pieces), half a lemon, cut into pieces of medium size, 3 cloves of peeled garlic, 40 g . tomato paste or lecho, a little salt.
  3. After adding the spices, wait 2 minutes, then send the shrimp to boil for 3-5 minutes, proceed from the size of the seafood.
  4. To determine the readiness of the dish you can, looking at the color of the shell, it will become translucent. In addition, the shrimp float to the surface.Immediately after this, the plate should be turned off and the broth should be drained through a colander.
  5. When all the water is drained, move the shrimp in a deep bowl, season with lemon juice (apple cider vinegar) and olive oil.

Important!
If you purchased frozen shrimps of a reddish hue, it means that they were not cooked in advance. In this case, seafood must be braised on the stove a little longer (about 5-7 minutes).

Although onions and garlic are added to the broth, the shrimps are very tender. The cooking process is more like a quenching, due to this, seafood is soaked not only with smell, but also acquires new taste qualities.

  2. Cut the white onion into rings, fry it until golden. Pass 2 cloves of garlic through the press, add to the pan with onions.
  3. Do not thaw shrimp, immediately put them in a container. Turn on the burner on a slow fire, pour water over the composition so that it covers the shrimp completely.
  4. Cover with a lid, bring the mass to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for another 1-2 minutes.

Cooking shrimp with wine

  1. Put the shrimps in a colander and rinse them with water so that the ice is gone. Dry with a waffle or paper towel.
  2. Pour 2 liters of water into the pot, add 500 ml. white or red dry wine.
  3. Crush 4 cloves of garlic in a crush, rub the carrots on a grater or chop it in a combine, turning it into a porridge, add to the container with wine.
  4. Salt, pepper (if desired), put the pan on medium heat. Wait for it to boil, then send the shrimp to boil.
  5. The duration of the procedure is 3-5 minutes, not longer. At the end of the period, turn off the stove, drain the water, leave the shrimp under the lid for another quarter of an hour.

The classic recipe for shrimp

The most common cooking technology of shrimp is the preparation of the product with salt, dried dill and bay leaf. The method is suitable for all, because it does not require a large number of components.

  1. Remove the shrimps from the pack and thaw them under running water, rinse thoroughly.
  2. Pour into the pot 2.5-2.7 liters of water per 1 kg. shrimp. Add 40-45 gr.fine salt, wait for the crystals to dissolve. Put in the container 2 branches of dried dill, wait 10 minutes.
  3. After that, send the shrimp to the pan, boil them for 5 minutes, 2 minutes before readiness, add 7 pcs. bay leaf and 5 peas of pepper.

Cooking shrimp without cooking

In cases where you purchased seafood in a delicate pink hue, it was pre-welded in production. Since the shrimps are frozen immediately after cooking, without adding seasonings and salt, they will turn out fresh when defrosted. This cooking technique is more suitable for eating shrimp in salads or main dishes, where the components are salted together.

There are 2 simple defrosting schemes, consider them in order.

  1. Pour cool water into a large saucepan, put the bag of shrimps in a container (do not open it). Wait until it is completely thawed, then rinse through a colander.
  2. Unpack the shrimps, rinse them under running water. Put in a deep container, pour boiling water over it so that it covers the product completely. Wait 2 minutes, drain the water.

  1. Pour water into the pan so that it covers the shrimp 2 times, boil.
  2. Place 10 branches of cloves in boiling water, squeeze the juice from half a grapefruit, add 5 gr. coriander.
  3. Take 1 bell pepper, chop it into porridge using a blender or combine, add to boiling broth. Salt, pepper, reduce heat and throw shrimp into the pan.
  4. Boil for about 3 minutes if boiled shrimps and 5 minutes for raw seafood.
  5. After boiling, immediately drain the broth, prepare the nut sauce: chop 5 walnut kernels, 5 almond nuts, add 20 ml. soy sauce and mix everything with mayonnaise. Dip in shrimp sauce and enjoy the exquisite taste.

Important!
Never put shrimp in boiling water without first thawing it. Otherwise, you spoil the dish, because seafood will turn into jelly.

Cooking shrimp in a slow cooker

Technical progress has gone far ahead, for this reason, there is a slow cooker in almost every home. It reduces the cooking time, but it is not specified in one instruction to the device that shrimps can be cooked in this way. Consider a simple technology.

  1. To begin, fill the shrimp with olive oil at the rate of 60 ml. on 1 kg. seafood.
  2. Cut a fresh bunch of dill, add to the main dish and mix. Pour in 30 ml. lime juice or lemon.
  3. Move the composition to the multicooker, add 2-2.5 liters of water. Turn on the Quenching mode, wait for the timer to turn off, or set the time on your own (20 minutes).

Cooking shrimp in the microwave

  1. Wash the shrimps under running water, put them on a cotton or paper napkin so that excess moisture is absorbed (so the shrimp will not be softened during cooking in water).
  2. Take a sleeve for baking, put there part of the shrimp in 1-2 layers to leave free space. Pour some vegetable oil mixed with water in a ratio of 1:10. Tie, pierce a few holes with a sewing needle.
  3. Put the microwave on medium power, put a sleeve with shrimps there, stew for 7-10 minutes. After the expiration date, decorate the dish with finely chopped dill and a teaspoon of natural apple cider vinegar.

  3. Pour with mayonnaise or olive oil, squeeze juice from 1 lime.

Shrimps with Squids and Pineapple

  • Peeled boiled shrimps - 350 gr.
  • boiled squid - 300 gr.
  • Canned pineapple - 200 gr.
  • quail egg - 10 pcs.
  • Iceberg lettuce is at your discretion (2–3 leaves)
  1. Drain the pineapples, chop the fruit into small squares.
  2. Cook the eggs, peel them, cut the salad into thin strips.
  3. Crush the squid, mix them with shrimp. Season with mayonnaise, add salt, pepper.
  4. Combine all the ingredients in one mass, garnish with a quail egg, cut into 2 parts.

Shrimps in batter

  • boiled shrimp - 500 gr.
  • wheat flour - 120 gr.
  • chicken egg - 2 pcs.
  • butter - 20 gr.
  • breadcrumbs - 50 gr.
  1. Break eggs into a bowl, mix them with pepper and salt. Combine flour and breadcrumbs into one mass. Peel the shrimp shell, dip them first into the egg mixture, then into the flour.
  2. Put a piece of butter in the pan, place the product, fry until golden crust. Typically, the cooking time is 2-3 minutes. Serve with mayonnaise-garlic sauce.

It is easy to cook shrimp, if you have sufficient knowledge with regards to their preparation. Proceed from the size of the product, observe the time in the broth, in any case do not increase the cooking time. Add spices to taste, do not overdo it with salt.
