You can simply disinfect your slippers, boots, sneakers, boots. No, they will not have to be boiled or steamed. There are more humane ways. So, we tell how to disinfect footwear from a fungus without harm for it.

How to disinfect shoes from fungi

General rules

Often ordinary mass-produced shoes are made from cheap materials that cannot boast of inertness to aggressive pairs of disinfectants. Simply put, the sole or glue can soften during the process. You need to be prepared for the fact that you still have to change old shoes. This rule does not apply to good quality shoes.

By the way, disinfection is not a one-time process. It will have to be carried out regularly throughout the entire period of treatment for the fungus.

Liquid for disinfection does not need to be poured inside the shoe (except for some specialized means). After all, it can be great harm to shoes or boots. Plus, it is not always possible to thoroughly saturate the lining with a disinfector. Therefore, it is very important to do this:

  • completely unlace shoes
  • wet the cotton pad or cotton cloth with the selected liquid (you can take a bandage)
  • thoroughly saturate the whole shoe from the inside
  • tie a pair in a tight plastic bag for several hours
  • after the procedure, the shoes need to be ventilated and dried

Particular attention should be paid to the heel and toe part. After all, there is the focus of bacteria and fungal spores. But the rest should not be forgotten. For example, if an insole can be removed in a shoe, it is highly recommended to do so. Then you should soak the insole in a disinfectant solution, and process the sole itself from the inside.

Council Do not dry your shoes near a battery or heater. Even the most expensive pair can lead and warp.Let the boots dry naturally. Or used household dryer for shoes. By the way, some of them are equipped with an ozonizer. This allows you to get rid of the unpleasant smell.

Disinfect shoes. Liquid products

There are several options that do a pretty good job with spores of the fungus. But each of them has its own characteristics and nuances. We will talk about them.

Vinegar
For proper treatment, a concentration of 40% is required. On sale such vinegar is not found. But it is easy to prepare it yourself from 70% of the essence.

Using. This is one of the fluids that is completely disloyal to the controversy of the fungus. Because it is very caustic. Because of this, it is not recommended to wet the inside of the shoe. It is enough to put a cotton pad soaked in vinegar in a shoe and place the pair in a tight bag or container.

Processing time is 1 day. After that, shoes can be aired and worn. The method is not suitable for frequent use, because the acetic acid fumes corrode the sole materials.

Important! After treatment, the vinegar smell does not erode from the shoes for a very long time. Keep this in mind. And shoe another pair to visit public places.

Formalin
Very smelly, but effective means. Another name is formidron.

Using. The cotton pad is moistened in liquid, then the entire inner surface of the shoe is carefully wiped. Do not forget to handle joints and seams. After that, the pair is placed in sealed conditions for a day. Further, as usual: air and dry.

Important! Formidron does not corrode artificial leather and rubber, therefore it is suitable for regular processing. But the smell disappears for a very long time.

Miramistin
Drugstore, which perfectly copes with the spores of the fungus. No doubt, it is not cheap. But still less than a new pair of shoes.

Using. Included with the bottle comes nozzle spray. With its help, it is enough to spray the inner surface of the shoe and dry it. This is enough for almost complete disinfection.

Important! Miramistin is ideal for handling after each sock. Therefore, it is better to immediately buy a large bottle.

Disinfect shoes. Pharmacy drugs

Today the industry offers a wide range of special means for disinfecting shoes from a fungus. These are mainly sprays. They are very convenient to use.And they do not destroy the materials from which shoes or sneakers are made.

Most drugs have one advantage. Shoes can be worn immediately after processing. But we still recommend dry shoes. Indeed, in a humid environment, the fungus develops much faster.

Here are some of them:

  1. Dezavid. Powerful antiseptic without color and smell. Often comes across in the shops of household chemicals.
  2. Line The drug is blue, it smells. Not suitable for light or white shoes.
  3. Bicin. Spray. Allowed for use on wet shoes. Sometimes found in hunting and fishing stores.
  4. Alaminol. Inexpensive concentrate with a wide spectrum of action. Sold only in specialized medical stores.

As you can see, the drugs have one drawback. Such disinfectants are not sold in regular pharmacies. They can be bought only on specialized sites on the Internet, or in completely unexpected stores. And further. Oddly enough, but sometimes some products are supplied to regular veterinary pharmacies. Therefore, if there is such a nearby, then it is worth to go and ask.

Disinfect shoes.Mechanical means

Now on sale there are special dryers for shoes. They are equipped with ultraviolet or gas discharge lamps. Work from a network of 220 V or from AAA batteries.

The advantage of such dryers is that after their use no additional ventilation is required.

Laboratory studies have shown that regular drying with such an apparatus:

  • kills fungal spores and pathogenic bacteria
  • eliminates unpleasant smell
  • allows to dry shoes without harm

By the way, the process will be much more efficient if you use the device together with the liquid treatment. Then the fungus is not exactly good for it.

Useful tips

Any disinfecting treatment will be in vain if the person walks in old socks or pantyhose. Sadly, these wardrobe items will have to be changed completely. And no "Maybe the cottage?". Just throw it away.

In the shoes that are removed for storage, it makes sense to put a cotton pad with a few drops of any coniferous essential oil. It has a delicate antiseptic effect and perfectly deodorizes. The same effect boasts clove oil.

In the pool, solarium or sauna you need to carry wet disinfectant wipes. A pair of movements - and now the slates and slippers are completely safe. By the way, the feet and between the fingers can also be wiped with napkins.

Be sure to disinfect just bought shoes. Even if someone bought it in socks before buying it. Fungal spores do not disassemble where the socks are, and where the lining is. They live well even in the seams and under the insole.

Now you know how to disinfect shoes from the fungus and keep it intact. After all, it is cheaper to spend money on any means than to completely change your shoe wardrobe. Do not be ill!
