Sandy Efa - a description where it dwells, features

Sandy efy - these are poisonous snakes, which are among the most dangerous reptiles on the planet. The bite of efah is fatal to humans Also, one of the features of this type of snake is that they are absolutely not afraid to use their sharp and poisonous teeth against opponents, which are many times more.

 Sandy effect

Sandy efa belongs to the order of scaly snakes (family of vipers). The optimal living conditions for this reptile are rather arid climate, as evidenced by the area of its distribution (African deserts and wastelands, southern regions of Asia).

Appearance

The climatic features in the area where the sandy efa resides influenced not only its behavior, but also its appearance. The main body colors of this very dangerous reptile are light, often with a characteristic golden hue.Over the entire length of the snake, an intricate zigzag dark pattern contrasts quite strongly with the light color of the snake. It should also be noted that the entire surface of snake skin is covered with scales, with a characteristic ribbed structure that helps this poisonous snake to regulate the temperature, which is important in conditions of dwelling in arid climate.

Although the efah is a dangerous sand predator, this snake has rather modest dimensions, for example, the length of even the largest individuals does not exceed 800 mm. Nevertheless, such small sizes are quite justified, which is explained by the fact that representatives of this species exist in conditions with rather limited natural resources.

Habitat

Ephas are quite active snakes, rarely lingering for long in one place, therefore these reptiles are often found both in the open desert and in an area characterized by the predominance of the stone or steppe landscape. However, the favorite habitat of this species of snakes are thick vegetative and shrub thickets that allows reptiles to quickly hide from prying eyes.In addition, an area characterized by an abundance of vegetation is more attractive for efy as a forage area.

Who does the snake hunt

Like most species of the viper family, the sandy ef is, in fact, a born hunter, deftly mining the prey needed for feeding. The main ration of this reptile is the insects that are easiest to catch. Larger in size animal inhabitants are not so attractive for efa as prey, mostly due to the too modest size of a snake. However, this does not mean that the efa is not capable of killing them - the poison of this creeping predator can almost instantly kill an adult horse. Therefore, if an efah hunts animals, then in this case various small rodents become its prey.

Behavior features

 Peculiarities of the sand efi
Efa, as mentioned above, is a rather active snake that can hunt both day and night, which, in fact, distinguishes this reptile from related species, preferring to divide the daily cycle into periods, which means rest and hunting. At the same time, efa does not lose its activity even after a dense meal.

Another feature of the efah is that this reptile does not hibernate, mainly due to the climatic conditions of the area in which this reptile lives and which actually do not affect the metabolism of creeping reptiles. However, if a sufficiently severe temperature drop occurs, the snake, as a rule, stops traveling and takes cover in some small crevice among the stones.

Breeding

One of the remarkable features of such a reptile, like a sandy ef, is that this species of snake produces living offspring. The beginning of the marriage period - from mid-winter to early spring. The duration of gestation of the future offspring is about 30 days, so the young individuals of the ephas are born by the middle of spring. More than a dozen young serpent are born at a time, which immediately after birth can not only move independently, but also look for food that is necessary for nourishment.

Danger to humans

Efa is one of the most dangerous snakes on earth and, accordingly, its bite represents a huge threat to human life. In due time not rendered professional medical aid, as a rule, leads to a lethal outcome. At the same time, the victim often after a bite of a reptile experiences quite severe pains and anguish, which is explained by the presence of toxins in the venom of the poison of the toxins that destroy blood cells.
