Globular sarcosome - description, where the toxicity of the fungus grows

Having noticed a globular sarkosome in the forest, an inexperienced mushroom picker most likely will not understand that a mushroom representative under his feet is, however, so rare that any mycologist would envy that he was lucky to see him.

 Globular sarcosoma

Unique mushroom without a leg

Spherical sarcosome causes admiration even among scientists, it is so unusual, and although it is considered inedible, it brings invaluable benefit to people.

It refers to the ascomycete representatives of the Sarcosome family. She has another name - bulgaria spherical.

The fruit body of the fungus itself is quite large and, as the name confirms, spherical, but sometimes in the form of a bulb or cone. A young copy of the form can be cylindrical. The height of the fungus can reach from 3 to 9.5 cm, its diameter is from 3 to 8 cm.

The upper part is saucer-shaped, and at the top,In the very middle of the body, there is a hymenium, which has a black-brown or very dark shade and is a jelly-like or so-called leathery film. Hymenium is slightly pressed inwards to preserve the contents of the fungus.

Outwardly, the globular sarcosome is very similar to a small small pot with a neck, which is filled with a clear, light liquid. Looks like a fairytale hero of a magical forest. The color of the fruit body is usually brown or dark brown, but in the lower part is always a darker shade.

The fruit body has a soft texture, the skin is soft, smooth and velvety. The surface is uneven. May be moderately wrinkled or completely wrinkled in old specimens. At the base are visible large hyphae - rhizomorphs, which stretch only a few centimeters.

Leg absent altogether. Spores in Bulgaria have no spherical color. They are smooth, elongated, similar to ellipses. When, after growing up, the fungus begins to shrink in diameter, as if it is losing weight, the spore-bearing layer seems to turn out. A hole appears in the center of the body so that after some time the liquid in the inner space of the fungus pours out. This fluid is mucous, with a mushroom odor, but completely tasteless. In young species is gelatinous layer between the liquid and the wall. It has a popular name - earthen oil.

Why the mushroom needed this watery consistency, scientists argue so far. It was once thought that it was spore-bearing, but it turned out that spore formation occurs in asca (they are shaped like cylinders). They are located on a surface resembling a lid. It is assumed that when the fungus reaches a certain age, the liquid enters the bags. Because of this, they are torn, and disputes are outside. There is also an opinion that this liquid is necessary for sarcosome as a food and for increasing its size, so as not to waste extra forces for adding mass.

The scattered spores then begin to germinate, but can quickly die if there are no appropriate conditions.

Mushrooms usually live no more than 60 days. When they swell, they burst rather quickly, and this is the most compelling reason why you can rarely find a mushroom that has survived to old age. In the period of his life he undergoes amazing changes, his many secrets have not been completely solved, therefore he always attracts the attention of scientists.

Locations

 Locations of globular sarcosome
The favorite habitat of the fungus is coniferous forests. There is always a lot of fallen needles and plenty of moss - the most attractive conditions for globular sarcosome. Since, in fact, they are saprophytes, they are always in thick grass, and therefore it is difficult to find mushrooms. But, if one was found, it means that there may be 8 - 10 units nearby. They grow alone, but they can grow together.

It is believed that if you need a bountiful harvest of mushrooms, then it can only be harvested once in 8 - 10 years. Collect it at the end of April and in May. In areas of Siberia, these mushrooms can be found immediately after the snow cover has come down. Grow in Europe, as well as have, as you know, the Arctic-Alpine distribution.

This mushroom is listed in various regions of Russia in the Red Book. Due to its uniqueness, the globular sarcosome is not similar to any other species, therefore it is impossible to confuse it with another mushroom.

Healing properties and medical applications

Some scientists warn that it is an inedible mushroom, others are more favorable to it, and are classified as conditionally edible. And in some regions of Russia, people fry them, stew them with vegetables and eat.

Use this mushroom folk healers. Especially attracts their liquid. As it turned out, it is rich in valuable substances - amino acids, as well as fatty acids useful for the human body. They are obtained from earthen oil excellent healing agents for the treatment of radiculitis, relief of nervous tension. Many healers are sure that the mushroom has a fast-acting rejuvenating effect, helps accelerate hair growth, because it is actively used by cosmetologists. From this mushroom, ointments and tinctures are prepared, as well as effective decoctions and masks.

It is believed that the globular sarcosome can fight cancer cells and stimulate brain activity.
