The edges of the cap are rather thin. The diameter of this part of the fungus does not exceed 100 mm. The color ranges from dirty white to light brown with some yellow. On a dry surface, small scales of brown or brownish color can be clearly seen. Closer to the central part are scales with larger sizes.

Most often, this type of mushroom can be found growing on fallen and dead trees, in fact, representatives of this type feed on decaying wood. In addition to the dead tree, stumps and fallen trees, groups of mushrooms can grow on various wood products, sleepers and telegraph poles, thereby destroying their structure. Note that in order to maintain the operational life of such products, the latter are covered with a special antiseptic.Nevertheless, it does not harm the pilolistus at all, to whom such “impregnation”, on the contrary, likes, in fact, because of what this species got its name - sleeping mushroom.

Where better to collect?

Although the species of mushrooms presented to the attention belongs to edible ones, nevertheless, there are hardly many people willing to try culinary delights with mushrooms growing on wood impregnated with creosote.
