Stargazer - a description of where the poisonousness of the fungus grows

Star mushroom is a typical representative of the mushroom kingdom, belonging to a fairly large family of star stars. Note that this species belongs to the group of conditionally edible eukaryotes, which are widely used in cooking and in traditional medicine.

 Asterisk

Features of appearance

Such a mushroom as a zvezdovik, in addition to its main name, is also known as geastrum or ground star. The fruit body grows under the surface of the earth, forming a kind of bag. In the process of growth, the cap of the fungus comes out, making its way out, while its surface bursts, due to which curling ends are formed. That is, a ripened mushroom with its external characteristics strongly resembles a star with several spongy rays framing the central part.

The inside of a star-like geastrum hides a spore-bearing body, which has a characteristic geometric shape (often oval or spherical). The top part of the fungus, in which spores mature, has the thinnest protective coating and is bordered with protrusions covered with small cilia. In this form, the fruit part remains to ripen. Over time, the rays darken. Often fall away.

Features of the appearance of earthen stars directly depend on the subspecies. On average, the size of the cap does not exceed 40 mm in diameter, the size of the open star-like part varies in the range from 30 to 150 mm, the spherical body of the sporiferous part reaches 13-15 mm in height, not more than 10-12 mm in width.

At the beginning of development, eukarite, as a rule, has a light color of all its parts (color varies from finely white to saturated red or brownish). With the growth of the fungus, the color of the fruit body darkens. Spar zvezdovik - brown or pale yellow.

Inedible species

Starfish family is mainly inedible species of mushrooms, but at the same time they are not poisonous. Often representatives of this family are used in traditional medicine.

  1. The triple earthen star is a mushroom, somewhat different from related species, which is characterized by a double layer of the outer shell. When ripe, the surface bursts apart, forming an unequal number of rays, and the inner one turns into a kind of border, framing the sporiferous body, thus forming a bowl. The color of the mushroom body is from light beige to brownish.
  2. Striped star - as well as the form described above has characteristic differences. The mycelium of this type of mushroom is located not like most members of this family — beneath the surface of the earth, but above it. As specimens ripen, the fruit body forms long rays that have a creamy color, which gives the mushroom a star shape. Over time, these rays crack and significantly darken. The elongated sporiferous body of small size is located on a small and sufficiently powerful leg. Differs characteristic gray color with a light touch. The central part is divided by stripes.
  3. Fringed little starfish is a mushroom, the fruit body of which is partially hidden under the ground. The outer shell of a brownish shade, as a rule, breaks into 6-7 parts curved to the bottom. The sphere with spores is gray, there is a slightly delineated bowl (yard) bordering it.
  4. The starfish crowned - a mushroom with gray rays having a matte shade. The sporiferous part is located on a thin and rather short leg. Directly the central part is darker than the star-like.
  5. The asterisk is the smallest geastrum. The shares of the outer shell are usually divided into a fairly large number of parts (up to 12). The color of the rays is light beige, cracking over time, exposing the lighter inside. Sporiferous body gray, with maturation darkens, on top - elongated proboscis.
  6. Black-headed geastrum is a subspecies of the family with significant differences. At the beginning of growth, the body of the fungus resembles such a form as a raincoat, which has a characteristic light color of the fruit body; as it grows, the shell divides into parts (up to 8), revealing the body of a sporiferous ball. Note that the inside of the rays are covered with dark mature spores, which are carried by wind in bad weather.
  7. The four-beam earthen star - this species also, like many of its relatives, during the period of ripening lifts the fruit body above the ground surface. The color of the fruit body is gray-white, spore-bearing gray.

Edible species

 Geastrum
As a rule, edible species of members of the family of starfish are used for culinary purposes only as an exotic additive (only young specimens are used for cooking), mainly due to their small number and, accordingly, little popularity among fans of quiet hunting.

  1. The vaulted starfish is a mushroom that has an oblate globular fruit body located below the ground surface. The color of the fungus is more brown, the spore-bearing body is flattened, matte with a characteristic pale yellow tint.
  2. The Schmidel star is a feature of the species in that the fruit part of this species of edible mushrooms has rather modest dimensions. In the period of ripening, as in the majority of related species, it rises. Sporonosnyy ball keeps on a low leg with ciliated edging at the top. The color of the fungus is brown, with growth significantly darkens.

Where stars are growing

On the territory of our country, such a wild-growing mushroom as a little star is extremely rare representatives of the mushroom kingdom. Most often it grows in regions with a mild warm climate (Caucasus, many European countries).

Mixed and coniferous forests are the most attractive for starships. Often, these mushrooms are found growing on the banks of water bodies. Star-like mushrooms grow in fairly large groups, forming characteristic “witch” rings. Fruiting season - from mid-August to early October.
