How to clean leather gloves at home

Leather gloves are a versatile and stylish accessory that will certainly be found in the wardrobe of both women and men. A variety of styles, colors and material allows a person to get gloves for different occasions and for any weather conditions.

 How to clean leather gloves

But no matter how high-quality the product is, in any case, it is necessary to properly care for it, so that it lasts a long time, and not thrown into the trash after one season of operation. It is important to remember that dirt and dust have a negative effect on the skin, therefore it is necessary to clean such gloves on time and properly.

What should be remembered

So that because of your own ignorance you don’t have to throw away an expensive quality item, read the tips below before you start cleaning.

  1. Cleaning on time is easier than throwing it away. Leather items are of high-quality, but expensive, so it’s more economical to clean the barely appeared dirt than to run the product so that it only remains to dispose of it and buy a new one. Everything must be done on time!
  2. If you are not sure that you can handle the contamination yourself, do the dry cleaning. However, remember that not everywhere there are professionals who can cope with the dirt on the skin, and such treatment (even with some gloves) will cost a lot.
  3. In a situation where you clean your gloves yourself, do not allow moisture to enter the deep layers of the skin: it distorts the thing beyond recognition. Only the surface of the product is cleaned!
  4. Never iron iron things! Even from the seamy side! High temperature leads to "skukozhivaniyu" and deformation.

Cleaning methods

In order for gloves to have a positive effect, carefully read the tips below and follow the instructions with precision. Then your gloves will become clean and will not lose any shape, color or integrity of the cover.

 Methods for cleaning leather gloves

Aqueous solution of ammonia

  1. Water and alcohol diluted in a ratio of 4: 1.
  2. Using a cotton pad, evenly spread the resulting solution over the surface of the gloves. They become wet at the same time, but the liquid should not drain from them.
  3. Repeat the procedure until the cotton pads do not stop darkening from your manipulations.
  4. Upon completion of cleaning, wipe the product with a cloth moistened with cool water.
  5. Put the gloves on until your gloves are completely dry: this will help the product to keep its shape.

Hydrogen Peroxide Powder Solution

  1. Mix the powder and peroxide in a 1: 1 ratio. If the resulting mixture is too thick, add warm water or ammonia.
  2. Using a cotton pad, apply the resulting mass to the gloves and leave for five minutes - during this time all possible dirt from the surface will dissolve.
  3. Remove the cleaning agent with a clean, damp cloth or cotton pad.

This method is not recommended for light or completely white gloves. The material from which they are made is much more sensitive than dark skin. From such experiments, white material can be fairly yellow.

Soap solution

  1. Rub the soap on a grater and add the resulting crumb to a small amount of water.
  2. Then dip the gloves in the solution and quickly rub them together. In case of severe contamination, you can leave the product in water for a couple of minutes, but do not forget that moisture should not completely soak the skin.
  3. Rinse the gloves with cool clean water and dry them as much as possible.
  4. Put the gloves on your hands until they are completely dry so that they keep their shape.

This method of cleaning is also suitable for white gloves, but the soap for washing needs to be chosen in an exceptionally white color: any other can easily enter the light material and color it with inaccurate stains.

Folk cleansers

Do not remember the folk methods is simply impossible. Not only are they easy to use, the tools you need for cleaning will always be in your fridge.

 Folk cleaners leather gloves

  1. Milk. It is enough to wipe the gloves with a cotton swab moistened in milk until they stop darkening. This means that the milk has removed all the dust, dirt and grease that has accumulated in the skin. After cleaning, dry the product and put it on your hands until it is completely dry.
  2. Egg. A very good way for light skin gloves. Separate the yolk from the protein. We beat the last mixer up to the state of stable foam and apply it on the surface. After a few minutes, remove the protein from the gloves and wipe them dry.
  3. Bread Crumb. A great way to clean color products - they will not only be clean, but also regain their previous brightness. Breadcrumb should be soaked in warm water or milk, then knead it, and the resulting mass to cover the gloves with a napkin. After a few minutes, the composition is removed from the surface with a damp sponge.
  4. Lemon juice. Simply wipe the product with cotton wool dipped in lemon juice: this will remove dirt, dust and grease from the surface. Lemon juice has a whitening effect, so do not be afraid to clean bright gloves in this way.
  5. Bow. Cut the onion and rub the polluted area with the cut. As the pulp darkens, update the slice. After this treatment, wipe the product with a damp sponge, washing away residual dirt.

Forget about gasoline! No matter how effective this method of cleaning may seem to you, it is not necessary: because of this, your thing will smell disgustingly for a very long time, because the smell of gasoline is very persistent and weathered poorly.
