Who are Karbyshi

Nobody doubted that this creature belonged to the order of rodents, because they found spoiled potatoes, onions, beets. But the robber turned out to be experienced, he tried not to fall into anyone’s eyes. And so, having compiled an identikit from the words of eyewitnesses who managed to see him in just a few moments, one can imagine a common image. New pest turned out to be a cute little animal of domestic appearance, behind which lies a dangerous enemy. His name is karbych.

In appearance it is an ordinary hamster, weighing up to 600 g, cute, seemingly gullible.Color can be reddish or black shades. He leads nocturnalism, settles himself in forests, kitchen gardens, gardens, and when he wants to get closer to people, he finds housing in barns and other house buildings. The female during the season brings 10-12 cubs for three broods and from March begins to breed.

It feeds on greens, bulbs, roots, legumes and grasses, and it starts from the moment of planting. Since the carby does not like to sleep in the winter, therefore it makes edible reserves for the winter to the detriment of the gardener. For a full wintering he will need about 12 kg of products. So the wrecking caused by the hamster is very noticeable. By aggressiveness is similar to a rat, it can even rush at people. He does not tolerate the heat of the day, dies from the scorching rays of the sun, but he is friends with water, but in moderation, he avoids large and shallow reservoirs. By nature, karbyshi are not gregarious animals; they dig burrows at a distance of one to another from a depth of 1.5-2 meters.

As for his fishing, we can say that the damage is enormous. Everything above the ground, eats or carries in reserve. Underground harvest (potatoes, bulbs, tubers) gnaws, leaving unsuitable residues. And do not help in the fight against him or shelter or fencing. But, despite the sweetest appearance of the carbs, the amateurs of agriculture are constantly forced to seek out ways to combat it.

How to get rid of the carbs

In the fight against the hamster, first of all it is worth trying to put traps on the type of mousetraps, only bigger in size. Considering that the animal has a lot of silence, it’s better to fix such traps, otherwise they will leave with the vegetables. And in order to speed up the capture process, it would be nice to pour some water into the holes. The animal will jump out and fall into the trap.

Deratization will come to the rescue. Place bait with poison near the holes, periodically replenishing them. In specialized departments of the shops you can buy chemical poisons, for example, varat, finale, clerat, rat death.

If there is a dog on the plot, then it will be a salvation from the carbs, since the man’s friend is the enemy of the hamster.

Some gardeners consider it a very effective way to install a noise repeller that makes sound waves that pests are afraid of. Unable to endure such music, the animals will gradually leave.

Saplings of fruit trees and shrubs are recommended to be fenced with a metal grid, because animals damage the bark.

Preventive measures

Having got rid of the unpleasant guest, it is worth thinking how to protect the site from its sudden return. The best option is to plant nothing more and do without your own harvest. Only those who are tired of fighting with an animal or do not believe in a long-term result will go to this step. Optimists can be left on the site for a permanent stay of the dog and additionally have a cat-rat trap. And most importantly - do not despair, works will certainly be rewarded.

In addition to the above-mentioned hazards brought by the bulb, there is another unpleasant moment - this beast is a carrier of various diseases. Therefore, fighting for the safety of the crop, do not forget about your own health.
