It is difficult to find a man who has never eaten bread in his life. And why? Bread is the main product of many inhabitants of the planet. It is not only tasty and satisfying, but also very healthy. To date, there are a huge number of varieties of bread, which differ in the type of flour, ingredients, method of preparation. Usually the bread remains usable for a few days. Then it becomes stale, often wet and sticky, and sometimes even begins to mold.

Many people store their bread in the same package as it was packed in the store. However, with such storage, the bread begins to deteriorate after a day. To avoid this and lengthen the shelf life of the product, you need to know where, how and in what to store a fresh loaf or a rifled loaf.

As soon as you bring a warm loaf home, do not immediately wrap it in a sealed film. Condensate forms in the bag, after which the bread may be damp. Allow it to cool completely before removing the bread for storage.

  1. Paper bag. This method of storing bread is suitable for toast, buns and a ruddy loaf. A paper bag helps to keep crisp on bread.
  2. Plastic bag. If you prefer to keep the bread in the bag, there is nothing to worry about. In it, the loaf remains soft and crumbly. However, in order for the bread not to blink and not suffocate, you need to make several holes in the bag for ventilation. You can not store different types of bread in one package - separate them.
  3. Breadbasket. It would seem that the breadbasket is the most optimal way to store bread. Usually the bread box is quite airtight and has only a few microscopic holes for ventilation. However, it must be properly maintained. Grandmothers are advised to keep one fresh apple in the breadbasket, it allows the bread to remain always soft. Wash your bread box at least once a week. The fact is that bread perfectly absorbs extraneous odors, therefore the place of its storage should be clean.Several times a month, wipe the bread box from the inside with vinegar to get rid of foreign flavors. Constantly remove the crumbs from the breadbox. And to get rid of excess moisture, place a bowl of baking soda or salt in the container of the bread box. Best of all, pine or juniper are suitable for making bread boxes - mold does not appear on this wood.
  4. Napkin. You probably remember how in Soviet and pre-war films grandmothers wrapped rye bread in a linen napkin. Bread wrapped in cloth may become slightly stale, that’s true. However, it will never rot and will not become moldy. To keep the bread in the napkin dry, wrap it in two or three layers of cloth. You can sew a special three-layer bag for bread - it is very convenient to store a loaf in it. In addition, this bag will decorate any kitchen. Use cotton cloth for storing bread and do not wash it with scented soap or conditioner. Otherwise, the bread will absorb a strange smell of soap.

Some housewives store bread in closed pans and other enamelled containers. This method, though not aesthetic, but has the right to exist.

Storing bread in the fridge has a number of advantages and disadvantages. Among the advantages it can be noted that bread at a low temperature evaporates less moisture, which means it does not dry for longer. This kind of bread always remains soft and fresh. The disadvantage of keeping bread in the fridge is that there are always a lot of different smells. And if you do not put a loaf in a sealed bag or container, the bread will begin to exude foreign flavors.

In this case, the bread will constantly need to be heated in the microwave. This method of heating makes the bread warm and soft, and after a while the loaf will completely turn black.
