How to remove superglue from your fingers: useful tips

The problem of removing superglue from the fingers came across, probably, every person who carried out repairs, repaired some technical equipment or simply glued some model. A special nuisance is the fact that when it comes to sensitive areas of the skin, where the thickness of the skin is somewhat less, the mass will be taken even faster, and, as a result, removing it will be quite problematic.

How to remove superglue from fingers

Glue of this type differs from the usual fast-term hardening and the formation of strong bonds between the smallest components of the two gluing surfaces. This property is explained by the overwhelming predominance of cyanoacrylate in the composition, its content in various types of glue is estimated at 97-99%.

Note: although cyanoacrylates, as a class of substances in general, are toxic, even working with them for an extended period will not harm them if the room is well ventilated. It is important to note that about 2.5% of the population of the Earth is allergic to these substances, and 5% experience irritation of the mucous membrane of the nose and throat even when making the slightest breaths of vapors dissolved in air, therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to their own condition when working with glue containing composed of similar components.

Ways to clean your hands from superglue

There are many ways to remove superglue from the surface of the fingers: some imply the use of solutions and suspensions of their own, while the latter involve the use of pharmaceuticals and chemicals. The choice of one method or another depends, firstly, on the location of certain components nearby, the degree and area of the lesion with superglue.

If superglue is literally just in your hands, using a regular soap solution and some kind of abrasive material (for example, pumice) can quickly remove it. The solution should, firstly, treat the damaged surface, and secondly, moisten the mineral or brush with it in the composition, and then gently rub fingers on all sides.Such two-sided wetting will improve the interaction between the particles, and the superglue will easily escape.

Tip: instead of pumice, a bast of a rough structure may be suitable; Finally, if it is also not available, you can add egg shells, pounded into fine powder, into the soap solution.

In cases where a large area of fingers is contaminated, you can use more chemically strong agents: soda, salt, alcohol or vodka. In the first case, it is necessary to dilute the suspension, which is soft for the skin, for which you need to mix 25-40 grams of soda powder and 100 milliliters of water: a sufficient amount of rigid components can ensure the gradual exfoliation of the stiffened mass.

Important: dermatologists do not recommend sprinkling the affected area with soda powder, since the lack of water, which in other cases plays the role of a kind of softener, can have a detrimental effect on the condition of the skin.

The use of salt is somewhat different both in quantity and its condition in water: for example, two full tablespoons of it should be mixed in a 250 ml glass with warm water, then left to stand for 10 minutes, in order to finally mix the smallest particles. This is done in order to exclude the possibility of direct contact between table salt and microcracks, which are necessarily formed when superglue is removed.

This solution is recommended to moisten a soft cloth, folded in three-four, which is already actively in a circular motion to rub the glue thickened on the skin. You should do the same with alcohol and vodka (15-20 ml of a liquid is enough to remove it, so you can only moisten a few cotton pads a couple of times). An identical method of application is margarine and vegetable oil. At the end of any procedure described above, it is imperative that you wash your hands with water and wipe them dry with a towel.

Finally, you can remove the superglue you took using vinegar. For this you need:

How to remove superglue from your fingers with vinegar

  1. Pour a little hot water into a small pot or a deep plate in which it is possible to hold your hand for a short time.
  2. Add about 10 ml of vinegar and 35 ml of soap solution to it.
  3. Soiled hands after reaching the liquid uniformity are lowered into the pan and kept there for at least 5-10 minutes.
  4. After it is necessary to walk on the surface of the pollution with an emollient, for example, a baby cream, in order to gently peel the exfoliated mass afterwards.

The ideal substitute for soap solution will be a shower gel (it will only be better if it contains particles of sea salt or some other hard elements).

Currently, there are special preparations that can remove superglue, even if none of the above described methods had any effect. So, to remove firmly thickened mass can help "Antikley", for which the task of complete separation of the adhesive mass is the main goal, and "Dimexide", whose spectrum of action is somewhat broader (it is a classic anti-inflammatory agent).

The importance of quickly getting rid of the frozen superglue

In any situation, you should always get rid of the thickening superglue as soon as possible, since this, firstly, will release the need to subsequently drop onto the skin with strong chemicals, and secondly, it will accelerate the mass separation process itself until it finally thickens.

Eliminating prolonged contact of the fingers, like other parts of the body, with superglue is also necessary due to the presence of the above toxic substances in its composition. These components are prone to very rapid destruction of the internal structure of the skin in order to occupy as much space as possible for the mass to set in general.

In addition, the process of removing superglue leads to the inevitable appearance of various cracks, dimples and other irregularities in the relief of the fingers. Although it is enough to simply heal them with an ordinary cream, they can still contain a paltry amount of acetone, phenol and other harmful substances that have a detrimental effect on the general condition of the skin.
