How to clean suede gloves at home

Soft suede gloves have not been out of fashion since their appearance: they look very elegant, are able to complement any image, and also have excellent thermal insulation properties, which makes them an almost indispensable element of cold winter outlets.

 How to clean suede gloves

At the same time, suede material (both artificial and natural) is very capricious and requires compliance with certain care measures. If the gloves are not cleaned in time, this can turn into the fact that the suede pile starts to be crushed, which in turn will lead to the formation of peculiar bald spots, distinguished by their characteristic fat, greasy, luster. In areas from which the smallest particles of the pile “go” to the side, large enough accumulations of dirt, dust and grease can form. Removing them after the fact will be very problematic.

It is important: to clean any suede products, even black ones, you need to regularly, at least twice a month (and in the fall and spring - once a week). This will extend their overall life, and keep their spectacular appearance.

Removing a light dirt from any suede gloves can help the usual procedure of "combing" the accessory. In most cases, using a classic massage brush, made of rubber and having oval teeth, as it, being made of soft material, does not harm the structure of the gloves.

Tip: Light fat, such as from food, can be removed even with a regular eraser.

As a replacement for the brush, you can use (only the most accurate) the fine-grained sandpaper. It is enough with the help of circular movements to slowly move along the surface of the gloves, gradually passing through all the damaged areas; in no case can not actively rub her surface.

Methods for cleaning suede gloves

If the methods of cleansing described above had no effect, then more potent methods should be applied in practice. When choosing them it is important to rely on the nature of the pollution and its degree; so, there are certain recommendations:

  1. If gloves fell into a puddle, and a sufficiently large area of their surface is now occupied by pieces of clay or loam, then they can be cleaned with coarse salt. It is enough to mix it with breadcrumbs, then bring the "mush" to a uniform state and then rub it into the surface. Finally, leave the gloves for 3-4 minutes and then remove the mixture.
  2. If the gloves have fallen into a very oily liquid, you can remove it using gasoline, but clean (you can check its component composition on another piece of cloth; clean gasoline will not leave stains).

A soap solution can be used as a cleaning agent: you should only dilute 200-250 milliliters of warm water with liquid soap or hard pieces in a glass (you can even replace the soap with a shower gel, it will be especially good if it contains solid particles).

The soap solution should be literally rubbed into the surface, and after removing the dirt - immediately dry the gloves with a towel, napkins and other soft surfaces.

Important: in no case can not be dried suede things on the battery and direct sunlight. This will gradually worsen the internal structure of the product, as a result of which it will first lose its shape, and then completely turn into a shapeless mass.

One of the most proven, along with the above described, and at the same time long used cleaning methods is the consistent use of ammonia and vinegar:

  1. In any container it is necessary to mix ammonia and water in a ratio of 1: 2, respectively (the amount of water may be slightly increased).
  2. Then you should lightly soak a cotton pad in the mixture and walk it over the polluted surface.
  3. After that, you must use another cotton pad, soak it in a solution of vinegar (1: 1 ratio with water) and also walk on gloves.
  4. Finally, at the end of the procedures described, one should “comb” the gloves in order to finally remove the small particles. In cases of haste, you can use a hairdryer, on which the weakest mode of warm airflow should be selected.

Cleaning white suede gloves

Suede white gloves are not particularly practical, but are still popular with both girls and women. It is necessary to care for them a little differently, and when cleaning it is important to observe the proportions of certain components of the solution.

 Cleaning white suede gloves

To remove contamination from the surface of white gloves made of suede, you should:

  1. Dilute the solution from 250 ml of water, 15 ml of liquid ammonia and 10 ml of hydrogen peroxide.
  2. Wet a soft fleece or rag that does not leave lint on any surface, in a mixture and walk on the surface of the solution. Then leave the gloves on a towel to dry.
  3. Finally, wipe the surface completely with another dry towel and rub the pile with a brush after half an hour.

If you do not have hydrogen peroxide or other components on hand, then you can use ordinary egg white. For cleaning you need a thick, whipped mixture, so you need at least 2-3 eggs. After giving the proteins the required volume, the mixture is applied to the damaged area so that it completely covers it. Then, using a conventional brush, rub the dirt (but not over the entire surface, but only within the protein coating), and finally, finally wipe the gloves with a flannel cloth.

Mud Prevention Measures

In order to use the cleaning methods listed above as rarely as possible, you should follow certain gloves care measures: they will help prevent the appearance and spread of oily stains and pieces of dirt on the glove surface.

First, before any release in inclement weather, suede products should be treated with a water-repellent spray: this procedure will prevent gloves from dissolving any components contained in the rain moisture in their structure.

Secondly, wearing suede gloves in the periods of early autumn and spring is a very dubious event, since usually it is raining quite heavily during these times, against which such gloves, no matter how resistant and soaked with spray, will not withstand. Suede products are recommended to wear in very cold, but dry weather.

Finally, in order not to have to resort to complex cleaning methods or, at all, carry an accessory in dry cleaning, it is best to remove dirt as quickly as possible after its formation and appearance on the surface. This will prevent the absorption of any components inside.
