How to clean a water cooler at home

Experts recommend cleaning the cooler every six months, but it is advisable to wash the device every 2-3 months or more often. How to clean a water cooler

Preparatory stage

Hygiene procedures are best carried out when the bottle is empty, and it will need to be replaced with another. The cooler is disconnected from the mains and the hot water cools down. It is advisable to lay the floor with a rubber mat or a piece of film, detach the drip pan and place a bucket or basin under the taps. First down hot water, after cold. It is not recommended to open both cranes at once, otherwise disinfection will not give the desired effect.

When the fluid runs out, find the water drain valve. It can be located below or on the back of the cooler. Press the cork or unscrew it, depending on the model of equipment. When the device is completely empty, the second stage of cleaning begins.

External disinfection

Hands should be thoroughly washed with antibacterial soap and treated with an antiseptic, or wear rubber gloves for dishes. Dampen a soft cloth in a soap solution prepared from the special Kremklin product. The usual detergent for plates, but no laundry detergent or liquid soap will do.

Go through the napkin on the cooler body, paying attention to the back panel. It is there that the largest amount of dust accumulates, due to which the equipment overheats and works worse. Wipe the grate thoroughly, top with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture and stains.

Removable parts

Detach the drip tray from the cooler. Unscrew the taps, noting their location. If necessary, mark with colored tape or tape, where cold water should flow out, and where hot water should flow. Glue the red and blue stripes on the case.

 Cleaning removable parts cooler

Some wash the parts under the tap, but it is better to use distilled water. Heat the right amount in the kettle. In one container to prepare a soap solution, the other to fill with clean liquid for rinsing.

Use for faucets and drip pan detergent or spray "Antiklin". Do not do without a thin hard brush that is used to clean parts from the inside. Removable parts better soak for 2-3 hours to destroy the maximum number of germs. After carefully rubbing the brush with the inside, do not forget about the external surface and the grooves in which bacteria can multiply.

The drip tray should be disassembled to gain access to the far corners of the tray. Collect back only after complete drying. Be sure to remove the bottle receiver by turning it counterclockwise. Unscrew carefully so as not to break anything. Soak along with the rest of the details can be further treated with an antiseptic. The bottle receiver is one of the main sites of accumulation of bacteria, because it is constantly in contact with the lids and necks of water tanks.

Clean the inside

The cooler needs to be disinfected from the inside with the help of special means “BIOR 1”. Be sure to fasten the washed and dry faucets into place, you can attach the drip pan later, together with the bottle of the receiver.

Cleaning the cooler from the inside

In 5 liters of liquid, 125 ml of the antibacterial component are diluted and poured into the hole where the bottle was previously located. Wait an hour, drain the solution: first open the taps, and then unscrew the plug. Return to the site and prepare a means of scale: connect 5 liters of distilled water with 100-150 g of citric acid. Split so that the precipitate is completely dissolved, and then slowly pour into the tank.

To make sure that the cooler is completely filled with the solution, you need to open the faucets. Is the jet weak and intermittent? You need to add more water with citric acid. Does water flow with a strong pressure? You can proceed to the second phase of cleaning.

Plug the cooler plug into the outlet, turn on the boiling mode. Turn off and unplug when water warms up. Wait 3 hours until the liquid inside has cooled, substitute the bucket and drain the solution. Remove the cork, dry the cooler and wipe it from the inside with a dry cloth. Repeat the procedure with citric acid 3 times, it is possible and 4, until the solution is clean, without hints of rust.

This method will improve the taste of water and prolong the operation of the device, but you need to get rid of the remnants of the disinfectant component with clean water. It is poured inside a thin stream, released through the open faucets. It should be repeated several times. Do not recommend the use of water from the tap, in which a lot of bacteria and harmful impurities.

It remains to check whether the drain plug fits tightly to the body, to replace the drip pan and clean the receptacle. Connect the cooler to the mains, do not forget to install a new bottle of water. Turn on preheat to make sure all systems are working.

Tip: Before drinking water from the cooler, you should take a glass of hot and cold liquid and pour it into the sink. If there is a strange flavor, you need to rinse the device again.

Recommendations

  • Do not use powders and abrasives with aggressive additives.
  • Do not pour cold water into hot tanks, wait until they cool down.
  • Wash bottle regularly, at least 2 times a week, and preferably more often.

Keep the cooler in the shade, because because of direct sunlight, water can “ferment”, and the walls of the apparatus will be covered with a greenish film.

If there are children in the house, you need to make sure that they do not get drunk with a solution of citric acid or a chemical agent.

It is advisable to wash the cooler with rubber gloves to protect the skin from burns, and the device from excess bacteria.

It is easy to care for a dispenser, but cleaning takes a lot of time and requires a certain skill. Sometimes the best solution is to give the cooler to professionals who will do everything quickly and efficiently, and at the time of cleaning they will provide a spare model.
