How to whiten an old bath at home

Bath - a kind of mirror at home. She immediately talks about the tidiness or, conversely, the carelessness of the owners. In addition, this container is simply obliged to be clean, because not only adult family members, but also small children are washed in it. And it is very annoying when even a newly acquired bath becomes dirty, unsightly, with tatters and divorces. Then there is an important task: how to clean it to shine, and to do it at home? Today we will try to understand this problem from all sides.

 How to whiten an old bath

The main sources of pollution bath

First you need to figure out why the bath is contaminated. What factors underlie this problem, and how do they have such a negative impact? So where does the dirt in the bath come from?

  1. Plaque organic particles. The most common source of pollution of the white surface.When a person is washing, not only dirt, but also the upper layer of the epidermis leaves his body. It basically disappears in the drain hole with water, but some of it settles on the bath. Time after time, this bloom is getting thicker, its color darkens, and this is the result - unsightly gray instead of pristine radiant whiteness.
  2. Soap This problem is more complicated. When you wash yourself, bathe your children or clean different things in the bath, lather forms. In fact, it represents a variety of chemical compounds. Some of them, again, are washed off with water, while the other not only settles with a rough gray bloom, but also eats into the surface, thereby gradually destroying it.
  3. Water structure It is known that this liquid, even though it looks the same everywhere, is different in its internal filling. In many regions, there is the problem of hard water. This means that it contains a large percentage of additional suspension, which also accumulates on the walls of the bath. The result is a dark bloom, sometimes almost saturated black, all sorts of smudges and stains.
  4. Normal rust. Where does she come from in the bath? It's simple, from the pipes, which inside are composed of iron elements. Gradually, upon contact with water, rust is formed, which subsequently settles on the bath with unsightly divorces. There is one more reason. Often in the water itself there is an increased iron content, which causes the appearance of disgusting yellowness on the walls of the tank.
  5. The age of the bath. If you have it old, then there is nothing surprising that its entire surface is already speckled with tiny cracks, and sometimes even chipped. All sorts of dirt, invisible particles, izvesi elements in water are clogged up in them. As a result, the bath looks very ugly, and it is quite difficult to clean it.

In each case, it is necessary to determine the cause of pollution in order to effectively solve the problem. For example, to get rid of plaque of simple organic particles, it will be necessary just after each wash to gently wipe the surface of the container with a soft sponge. Sometimes you need to wash the bath with special chemicals. It is enough to arrange such procedures at least once a week, so that the surface always has a radiant, elegant look. But still, not always these measures are enough.Sometimes you have to resort to other methods. We will talk about them below.

Basic bath cleaners

So, to make the bath shine again, you can choose one of the following methods. In general, there are quite a lot of them, but it all comes down to several groups:

 Basic bath cleaners

  • Popular methods, tested by time and no longer one generation;
  • Chemicals from the relevant department of any store;
  • Mixes prepared by yourself (these are also quite well-known recipes).

Before proceeding, read the following points carefully. First, all that will be described below refers exclusively to cast iron or steel enameled baths. If you have an acrylic model at home, then this is a much more gentle thing, and only a special product, or citric acid dissolved in water, is suitable for it. Any more aggressive substance will instantly save your capacity not only from a raid, but also from a beautiful surface.

Secondly, choosing in favor of chemical cleaning products, be sure to stop only on those that come in the form of gels, pastes, creams, in other words,do not contain abrasive component. It can easily scratch the surface of the enamel, which will create only additional problems.

Third, again, to avoid damage, do not use hard brushes. And in any case, do not take as a solution to the problem of funds produced for cleaning toilet bowls and sinks. These substances are too aggressive, so they can destroy the surface of the bath in a short time.

Well and, fourthly, do not forget about yourself. It is recommended to approach the case, armed with special protective gloves, as well as opening a bathroom. Remember that the health of the inhalation of harmful fumes has not been canceled.

And now - specifically about work.

Various means: effective and safe

Even before the invention of modern and state-of-the-art cleaning products, there were baths, and people somehow knew how to quickly and beautifully clean them from various types of contamination. In fact, the spectrum of household chemistry was not so wide, but it acted superbly, and very unfairly about him now forgotten. All popular recommendations have one more indisputable advantage: maximum security.They practically do not corrode the skin, do not harm the enamelled surface, they are not capable of irrevocably spoiling everything. So:

 Effective ways to whiten a bath

  1. Soda. The most popular and effective folk remedy. Easily cope with any type of pollution, but that's just completely useless in the fight against limescale. But the same yellowness, fat stains, ordinary household dirt will eliminate in two accounts. Apply with a damp sponge, rubbing, and then rinse. There is also a more complicated way, cleansing to shine. Mix baking soda and soda in equal parts, mix, and then gently rub on a moist surface. Leave for 30 minutes. After rinse with a weak solution of vinegar, and then plain, warm water. It is done!
  2. Vinegar. Another great helper. It effectively removes rust stains, household deposits, also helps with other contaminants. The most common, 9 percent. Soak paper towels in it and distribute them throughout the bath, leaving half an hour. Then clean and rinse. Two or three tone whitening guaranteed!
  3. Lemon acid. Excellent ally in the fight against limescale, and other pollution is also afraid of him.It will take only a solution of half a liter of hot water and 2 tablespoons of citric acid powder. Use a usual sponge to apply the prepared mixture to the bath, soak for about 30 minutes, rinse thoroughly. The effect will exceed expectations!

If you do not like to resort to folk remedies, use the options in the store. “Domestos”, “Pemolyuks”, “Komet” and similar compounds are excellent assistants in the fight against dirt. However, they should be selected, focusing on your own bath.

Finally, you can resort to special recipes. For example, mix turpentine and salt in the same proportions or borax and vinegar. However, whatever the way you use, cleaning the surface of the bath for shine, the main thing is that it is safe for you and for the tank!
