How to bring wheat grass on the site with folk remedies

Weed control is always a hot topic for all owners of their own garden. It would seem that they had recently weeded the plot, cleared it of grass, but after a short time it filled the garden again.

How to get rid of wheatgrass

The most enduring weed can be called wheat grass. Although his root system is very thin, this does not prevent him from making his way through even the thickest tree. If you allowed your site to become overgrown with wheat grass, then it will be difficult to get rid of it, but it is possible.

How to remove the wheat grass from his garden

Before you start cultivating the land, you should know that wheat grass, even though it is a weed, has a lot of useful qualities. It has an excellent sedative effect when properly prepared. Knowingly, the ancestors said that any herb can heal a person, just the wheat grass became uncomfortable with the fact that it litters the garden and prevents vegetables from growing.

Creeping grass got its name due to the fact that it spreads along the ground. Even a small root that has penetrated into the soil can spread very quickly throughout the territory, covering large spaces. Very often, people complain that wheat grass "crawls" to them from neighboring, abandoned or untreated areas.

Quite often, gardeners struggle with a plant with the help of various herbicides. This saves both time and energy, but not health, as the chemicals remain in the growing crop. Therefore, it is better to try to remove the wheatgrass with the help of harmless means.

How to remove wheat grass by folk methods

Based on how far your land is running, you can choose a more suitable way for you to combat grass:

How to remove wheat grass by folk methods

  1. Choosing a root. This option is the hardest and longest. Here it is recommended to use not a shovel, but pitchforks, because a shovel will only cut the root, and its parts will remain in the ground. Pitchfork also need to pick up a bush weed and pull it out of the soil, trying not to damage the root system. Then you need to shake the grass off the grass and throw it out of the garden.Although the option and time-consuming, but very effective.
  2. Cutting a young plant. This method is also not particularly pleasant, because it is long and painstaking. But it has a huge plus: additional fertilizer area. With the arrival of spring should begin to cut the newly grown grass, slightly digging into the soil. After a few days, it will grow back, and you have to cut it again. The meaning of the method is to "tire" wheat grass. When you regularly cut the stem, the root is significantly weakened and slowly "leaves" from the garden.
  3. Using a cultivator. The method is to grind the weed as much as possible, rather than weaken its rhizome. After that, the grass is easier to pull out and does not remain on the site.
  4. Blackout. All grass loves the sun, and wheatgrass is no exception. With a lack of sunlight, the plant ceases to grow. Place a dark film on the garden, and pour straw or peat on top. Rubber slate can also be used if there is no film on hand. This method ensures the complete disappearance of the wheat grass until the end of the summer.
  5. Sowing the site with legumes. Weed simply does not tolerate them.It is necessary to thoroughly plow the land and sow peas, radishes, corn or sunflower on it. Such plants drown out the root system of the weed and completely “devour” it.
  6. Oats, as an option for weed control. This is another culture that is very "afraid" of wheat grass. On the plot it is worth making a lot of grooves and sowing them with oats, which is worth mowing even before the seeds ripen. Then the mowed mass is put in layers downwards and another layer of oats is sown from above, which is then digged. In one season, about three crops are grown, thus completely ridding the land of weeds and enriching it with nitrogen.
  7. Unraveling the beds on the seeds. Everything is quite easy here: just do not pay attention to the grass. A cardboard is spread on top of the plant, twigs, leaves and other plant litter are put on it. All this is filled up with earth and at the edges supported by bricks. Under such a bed weed will not be able to germinate.
  8. The destructive influence of the sun. This method is the absolute opposite of dimming. Place a transparent oilcloth over the areas affected by the grass and secure it well.Such actions should create a greenhouse effect under the rays of the sun. The process of the disappearance of the weed will last several weeks.
  9. Suppression of grass. Take a chance and plant on the ground with wheat grass buckwheat, which strongly dominates and clogs the rhizome of the weed.

Herbicide application

If none of the above helps, or you don’t want to bother too much, then use chemicals. There is no definite drug in the stores, which only adversely affects wheatgrass, therefore, herbicides remove not only it, but all other plants. The most popular means is considered "Roundup", available in any garden store or nursery.

When you want to get rid of wheatgrass specifically, do not spray them with a vegetable garden, but grease its leaves with a brush dipped in the preparation.

There are other options for getting rid of harmful weed. For example, watering it with boiling water or vinegar. But they are not as effective as all those described in this article. Do not run your land, and then you will annually harvest a large crop from it.
