Volkosob - description of the breed and character of the dog

Volkosob was born as a result of breeding a wolf and a dog breed German shepherd. Despite the fact that for several centuries the hybrids of dogs and wolves are in the faithful service of a man, the world heard about this breed not so long ago - literally since the beginning of the third millennium.

 Wolftail

This hybrid, which was later called the wolffoot, was produced at the Institute of Internal Troops, which is located in Perm. Despite the fact that there are many cases when wolves were crossed with various large dog breeds, including huskies, Alaskan Malamutes or Huskies of Western Siberia, only the Czechoslovak wolf dog and Sarlos appeared to achieve official recognition. light after crossing a German shepherd with a wolf). The wolf-breed breed at the same time has a considerable number of admirers, although they have not received recognition from the International Federation of Dog Critics. The main feature of these dogs is that they have dog loyalty and good obedience, along with wolf intuition, endurance and excellent health.

Appearance

Externally, the wolftail resembles a wolf, its coat is thick, there is an undercoat. The color can be either light or darker, brown or even black. This is a large dog, whose height at the withers reaches 70 cm, and its weight is in the range from 30 to 50 kg. Volkozob has a developed and strong muscles, he is very tucked up, long limbs. The ears of these dogs are turned up, their size is medium, the eyes are pigmented with amber or hazel, their form is almond-shaped. A person who is not familiar with dog breeds can sometimes confuse this animal with an ordinary wolf due to a strong external resemblance.

The breed of these dogs needs a competent owner and the right approach to education and training. The owner is obliged to realize that his pet combines the features of a domestic dog and a wild predator.Even in the third or fourth generation, a wolftail may have the features of a wolf, consisting in a certain distrust and aggression towards a person. This determines the fact that such dogs are usually used in military service - this is helped by their excellent physical health, keen sense of smell, cunning and endurance, resistance to weather conditions, good learning ability. There are even stories about the incredibly sharp canines of such dogs, which in some cases turn into deadly weapons. Also, one of the specific features of the wolffoat, which gives a relationship to a predator, is that they very rarely bark, but sometimes begin to howl.

The history of the dog breed

There are many stories that dogs crossed with wild wolves, which led to the birth of an unusual offspring. For the first time such hybrids were mentioned 10 thousand years ago, when, according to some assumptions, wolves were first domesticated. There is a point of view that some wolves themselves have become accustomed to the person, harboring respect for them, treating them well and not being afraid. In the future, it was already a question of crossing closely related wolves, and this could lead to the emergence of a new species of dogs, whose task was to help the owner in the process of hunting for game.

 History of the wolffly

Over time, various breeders became addicted to the breeding of a wolf and a dog, but many attempts to bring out a strong, courageous, hardy dog with the characteristics of a predator turned out to be a failure. Such failures were determined by the fact that the puppies had an evil, and sometimes, on the contrary, fearful nature, unstable mentality and did not react to the training process in any way. In addition, the bred animals had anomalies and developmental defects, which prevented them from becoming true and physically strong dogs suitable for serving or participating in work. Currently, you can count about a dozen breeds that have not received official recognition, but at the same time represent the wolf and dog breeds.

If we talk specifically about the wolftail, then for the first time it was brought out by dog handlers located in the staff of the Perm Military Institute. In the second half of the nineties, experts began to study the characteristics, habits and characteristics of wolves.Suitable for further breeding were considered only those animals that belonged to a man with the necessary tolerance. It is believed that of the total volume of wolves, only about 4 percent of individuals can be successfully crossed with dog breed. The remaining animals have unpredictability, aggression, distrust. It should be understood that almost always for breeding animals, a male predator and a female dog are taken. But dog handlers working in Perm were able to get puppies from the reverse union. In 2000, the male Baron and a she-wolf named Naida were allowed to mate.

Such a union was feasible, since Naida from a young age was in the care of a hunter, who managed to inculcate in her all the characteristics of a domestic animal. And even becoming an adult, Naida did not lose her warm attitude towards man. The hunter later gave it to the staff of the military institute, where the first ancestor of the wolftails was in the nursery - the dog Baron with black wool, a reasonable, obedient and kind dog.

The first litter contained five puppies, of which four survived. And only one of them showed suitable features while serving with border guards and customs officers. Other animals had a bright sense of fear and distrust of people.

A year later, the she-wolf mating and Baron repeated, which led to a similar result. And in 2003, Naida was bred with a male produced in the second litter. The puppies that appeared to the world were more courageous, they performed the tasks they set for them, did not show estrangement from people. These animals differed from ordinary dogs in excellent health, incredible strength and sensitive sense of smell.

As a result, Permian cynologists brought out several more generations of dogs of this breed. Currently, the experiment, which is associated with the breeding of the hybrid, is already closed. But there are already some kennels in the country that continue to breed these dogs.

Character traits

A successful hybrid of a wolf and a dog is intelligent, sensitive and intelligent animals that always perform well in search work. In addition to a sharp mind, a wolftail often wishes to dominate its master. Therefore, in order to build the correct model of the relationship between the dog and the owner, it is important to clearly show the petthat it is the owner that has the main role and dominates the animal. Along with the ancestors of the wolf breed, it is customary for the wolffoss to choose its own leader and submit to everything.

Features of the nature of wolftail

If the owner does not have strong leadership qualities, then the wolftail may become uncontrollable, stop recognizing the owner. The dog who is brought up correctly, soft, differs in obedience, but thus will not begin to be humiliated and to ingratiate before the person. They are distinguished by good resistance to cold weather and poor conditions, they are somewhat unpretentious in food, and in a state of hunger, wolf-dogs without great difficulty travel long distances - up to a hundred kilometers.

Despite the fact that dogs of this breed often live close to people, they are often used as service dogs. However, this animal is not very well suited for keeping in an apartment, and the desire of a person who is not distinguished by good experience can sometimes turn into a tragedy, both for man and for a dog. Also, the wolftail is unlikely to peacefully coexist with other pets.

Features care and maintenance

Keep a pet is important in the open air, the best in a spacious aviary, where there is a warm booth. Despite the good health of the pet and its resistance to bad conditions, it is important to provide the dog with shelter, protected from the sun, drafts, and cold. The territory is also important to enclose a high and strong fence.

There are no special requirements for caring for a wolf walk. It is important to feed the pet in a timely manner, to offer him clean water. You will need to brush your dog regularly, and you can bathe twice a year. It is also important to monitor the health of the dog, check the condition of the mucous membranes, ears and eyes. It is important not to restrict the movement of an animal with a chain, as this can turn into manifestations of aggression not only towards strangers, but also towards members of your family. It is necessary to properly conduct the process of socialization and build the right relationship with the pet.

Process of training

Most often, the wolftail is started so that the dog takes part in service manipulations, as usually their training is in the competence of experienced professionals. The whole learning process is built on the developed techniques that incline the animal to unquestioning obedience and execution of tasks and commands.

The process of training wolf walk

It is worth noting that the wolf walk is distinguished by a good receptivity to the skills that it brings up. Also, a specific feature is that they, like other hybrids of a dog and a predator, can very quickly get used to a stranger, which sometimes turns out to be a plus if you have to change several hosts.

Pet health

With regards to health, the usual large breeds of dogs in this regard are inferior to the wolffoot. These animals are not subject to the most frequent diseases from which the same German Shepherd dogs can suffer: eye diseases, digestive disorders, and hip dysplasia. Experts report that the wolftail needs a doctor’s help about 3 times less than other breeds. It often happened that the life span of a wolffly reached the age of 20, and sometimes even 30 years, while at the most mature age the dog did not experience serious problems with sense of smell and sight, and could participate in the search and protection of the border.

Balanced food, disease prevention with the help of a veterinarian and measures aimed at preventing various diseases - all of this will help the Wolf Dog to remain strong physically and healthy dog for many years.

Interesting facts
